10 Mother’s Day Gifts Mom Actually Wants this Year

Hey Dad’s!

As a wife and mom, I know how much you want to express to the Mom, or Mom’s in your life just how much you love and value them. Some of you may need a little more help than you realized making sure your Mother’s Day Celebration shows her just that. Here are my top tips on what gifts she will really love. (If you want to avoid making a big mistake, check out this post with 5 Gifts to Skip this Mother’s Day.) As you are planning her celebration it helps to start by considering her love language. Does she receive love best through Acts of Service, Words of Affirmation, Physical Touch, Quality Time, or Gifts? Remember, your perception of love is through respect, but hers is through the actions that make her feel pursued; let that guide you!

10 Mother’s Day Gifts Mom Actually Wants this Year

  1. A shopping trip to her favorite clothing store AND time to go shopping on her own. Let’s be really honest, Mom spends a lot of her time tending to other humans. She May spend her money to treat someone else to something special and put her own wants, and needs aside. Give mama the opportunity to get herself something she really loves, that she can wear again and again.

  2. A Photo Shoot -this one is not just the kids, but for her! Tell her how special she is by letting her know that she deserves to be pampered, and treated like a work of art. This one is all about the experience!

  3. Gift Cards - Coffee, shoes, nails, hair, photoshoot, you name it, if it's just for mama she’s going to love the opportunity to treat herself when she is feeling a little tired.

  4. Girls Date- Make a plan with mama’s friends to hangout with the other dad’s and keep the kids. Give Mom some time with a few of her favorite people without having small humans in tow.

  5. Family Date - Plan a day where she can spend the day with her favorite people. You guys! The key here is to do all the prep and planning, so she doesn't have to worry about packing the diaper bag, snacks or how naps are going to fit into the equation. If you don’t pay attention to the details the way she would, this fun Family Date could become work for her.

  6. Plant a special flower, tree or shrub in honor of the life and beauty and joy she brings you, and your children.

  7. Art of your wife, children & family. Put together a wall art display of photographs for your home; or call a photographer to do it for you!

  8. A simple piece of jewelry that will act as a daily reminder of her motherhood journey.

  9. A Contemporary Portrait Session from Bethany Lyn Photography - This can be as simple as a gift card so she can get any kind of session she wants, when she wants. Or do all the planning for her! If you’re wondering what kind of portrait session that is read this post about the Contemporary Portrait Experience.

  10. This last one isn’t so much a gift but a really good tip. All Mama’s are different. If you’re really struggling with ideas and its the 0 hour, carve out an hour to sit and be present with her. Ask what she would like to do to honor her and then zip it. This isn’t a conversation of how to “fix” Mother’s Day, but a conversation to hear your wife’s desires.
